Lance Armstrong under active criminal investigation against him for doping. "Birotte does not speak for the federal government as a whole" and that "agents are actively investigating Armstrong for obstruction, witness tampering and intimidation" according to ABC news. A source told ABC news that he "does not speak for the federal government as a whole." In 1999 he tested positive for cortisone but as a prescription which he claimed he used a cream containing corticosteroids to treat saddle sores. Armstrong was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency. He also was banned for life from competing in triathlons and other sanctioned events. There is new investigation that will focus on alleged actions taken by Armstrong toward potential witnesses who could speak out against him. It won't be concerned with Armstrong's use of performance-enhancing drugs. He has ended his association with Livestrong. Recently Armstrong has indeed admitted to doping. Armstrong confessed that he used performance-enhancing drugs during much of his cycling career, admitting to using a cocktail of drugs, including testosterone, cortisone, human growth hormone and the blood booster EPO. He would spend the rest of his life trying to apologize to people and regain their trust.“There will be people who hear this and never forgive me,” he said. “I understand that.”
